Frequently Asked Questions
Q: When was GAW charity founded?
A: The charity was founded in May 2012 by Jody
Q: What made Jody set up the charity?
A: Jody has been fortunate to be able to travel widely. On each trip she made a point of visiting deprived areas or orphanages and making some form of significant donation, be it money, food or needed items. She decided she would like to do something to help others and to change lives on a more regular basis and was inspired to set up the Grant A Wish foundation close to home, here in the Marina Alta.
Q: Who do you help?
A: We help a wide range of people and causes. On a regular, committed basis we purchase food and supplies for a local children’s home and a nearby men’s refuge and hospice. We support the Make A Smile project with a monthly donation. We help various individuals in need, be it by illness, infirmity or circumstances.
Q: How do you decide who to help?
A: We review the cases brought to our attention and assess our funds. It’s very rare that we say no.
Q: How do you raise the money for your causes?
A: We organize a variety of events; rock concerts; special lunches; sunset cruises; fun days and races. We hold an annual auction and do numerous raffles We shake buckets at events – basically any way we can think of to raise funds. We also have a small number of company sponsors and some individual supporters.
Q: Does all the money raised by Grant A Wish go to the charity ?
A: Yes! Absolutely every euro or centime we raise goes into the fund to help our causes.
